On the wrong side of the road,
A girl waits,
She waits for a boy, gone forever,
She waits for a feeling, long forgotten.
Silent tears fall down her porcelain cheeks
Leaving streaks of black on perfect white.
The scars from too many lonely nights
Cover her arms, her legs, her neck.
Her body is littered with bruises;
Boyfriends who hurt her,
Parents who didn’t love her.
A cry escapes her lips,
A look of sadness fills her eyes,
She stares through the fog,
Looking to the other side,
Hoping to find a friendly face,
The face of someone she knows.
But there is only hostility,
For the girl on the wrong side of the road.
Old women sigh as they see the poor girl,
Young men laugh and snigger at her clothes,
And girls, those that should be her friends,
Stumble past, not daring to look.
…But still, on the wrong side of the road,
A girl waits,
She waits for a boy, gone forever,
She waits for a feeling, long forgotten.
